On the Mediterranean island of Gozo, Gus Harper wants nothing more than quiet days and open waters, with his decorated ex-military dog, Arty.

But one night, Gus hauls in more than fish—a young, half-drowned victim of human trafficking.
The discovery drags Gus back into a world of duty and danger, a world he’d thought he’d left behind.

PT Leonard lives on the Mediterranean island of Gozo. His intimate knowledge of the island’s culture, people, and hidden corners adds authenticity to his storytelling.

His connection to the Maltese Islands runs deep. His Maltese mother and British father’s story intertwined with the island’s wartime history. His father served in Operation Pedestal, the crucial 1942 convoy that saved Malta, before joining the submarine service in 1943, reasoning it would be safer (and better paid).

Following in his father’s wake, Leonard served in the Royal Navy as a nuclear submarine engineer (yes, he did operate nuclear reactors for a living!). His assignments took him from the North Pole to the South Atlantic, and all points in between.

After his naval career, he spent over two decades in international business development, working with innovative technology companies.

He holds an MBA from Manchester University Business School.

When not writing, Leonard can be found exploring Gozo’s ancient paths with his dog. His debut novel,

Tide of Shadows draws on this rich tapestry of experiences, combining his intimate knowledge of maritime operations, international intrigue, and the unique character of Mediterranean island life.

The legend endures, but today, dark tides threaten this...
